The materials that I chose will help me as a teacher work with students to close the learning gaps that were created by the COVID 19 pandemic. My students endured a state wide closure of in-person learning during their second grade year. The books that I chose will provide me with a classroom set of books that will not only grab their attention but also work on reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. I am a firm believer of hands on learning. Many students are able to fully understand mathematical concepts when they are presented at a concrete level first. The manipulatives that I chose will help students better understand how fractions work and why different fractions are equivalent. The math games that I chose will also provide students an opportunity to practice for the Math Science Olympiad and get their brains geared towards mental math.
