The items I requested will help students with severe disabilities become successful adults! We need a good printer because in our classes we fill out applications for adult services including DSPD, VR, SSI, SSDI, WAS. This is one of the hardest things my students and their families have to do. My students are about to graduate and they often still do not have this done even though most of them should have completed some of these when in kindergarten. The students also create positive personal profiles. These are a like a spotlight for each student and include: what the students are good at or what their skills are, pictures of the students doing what they are good at or working at a jobsite or doing a skill, and their goals for the future. These personal profiles later turn into a resume as they start to work with an adult service provider to find a job before they graduate. We also learn to cook meals weekly that the students would be able to make at home when they are an adult. We need the hot plates because the students need cooking skills but we do not have a kitchen and that is how the hot plates are needed to help our students be successful adults. The headphones are needed because we learn computer skills needed in adult life like email, google docs, reading and math programs on the computer (mostly Moby Max), Zoom, as well as have some leisure time.
