The ability for students to be able to work together to design and conduct actual experiments has been often limited. Due to COVID-19 restrictions they often have had to do an abbreviated experiment by themselves or use an online simulation to substitute for an actual experiment. These tools were necessary but not as effective in student learning as being able to actually design and conduct a real experiment. In order to recover the learning gap that was made clear in online learning, I want to give my students the tools and technology to reignite their interest in their STEM classes. Making a learner think is best achieved in a social environment with other learners. The Air Track will allow students to make measurements about velocity, acceleration, energy, and momentum and from those measurements identify the relationship between the different variables. By designing their experiments and taking their own measurements students can better learn how to apply their math skills in real world applications to alleviate fear of science.
