I run an afterschool jewelry making club. I have been running the club on donations for many years but this year has proven difficult to get those donations. My afterschool club provides a safe and calm environment for students to explore their creativity. I start each club meeting with a short meditation and stretching. Many students giggle through it the first couple of times but quickly learn it is a great way to destress and clear your head. We then have a short jewelry making lesson and the students start their projects. Some students work on a new project each meeting others choose a longer project to work on throughout the year. I love seeing how much they progress by the end of the school year. The big challenge that I have is funding the jewelry making supplies every year. We average 20-25 students in the club and with a new project each session that is a lot of supplies. Without the supplies I will need to cut back on how many students can be in the club and what projects I can do.
