Stop Motion MITOSIS. My students need stop motion mounts and shutter controls. The students learn from doing, and this project will help them learn and they create their own student-generated stop motion mitosis animation. In doing this, they will learn the sometimes complicated steps in a science learning target. In this project, they will learn all of the phases of Mitosis, such as Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase. The students will be able to break down the steps and record them into a process that will allow them to see the whole at the end. This type of project allows for them to see movement and help to create that movement, which is what science is all about. It isn't stagnate, but constantly moving and this will help the students to see this and incorporate it into their project and understanding. This type of learning can be used for other projects in Science as well, including Cell Transport, and Photosynthesis for examples. It engages the students as well!
