Reading is one of the best ways for students to acquire language. I have been searching for ways to grow my library of books in Spanish that students in Level 1 and 2 can read, understand, and enjoy. Reading is an almost magical way of increasing a student's understanding, not only of language, but also other cultures and ways of thinking. Students are able to read silently and with others. Having a larger library increases the opportunities students have to choose different books and find ones that they are interested in. I have also included a few more items - a large map, a map puzzle and plastic food - to aid in lessons on culture and food.
