I picked storybooks for narrative lessons, as there are endless learning opportunities between the covers of a story. These learning opportunities include expanding vocabulary, story retelling, comprehension, receptive and expressive language, social language, as well as supporting articulation. I also picked some hands-on materials such as magnetic language sticks to help increase vocabulary and describe skills through manipulatives. These materials will give my students the opportunity to grow the language skills needed to increase classroom participation and communication with peers. The materials selected provide a wide range of lesson materials for their individualized education program (IEP) goals and will greatly benefit my students.
