The toys and materials are the medium in which children in play therapy express themselves. These therapeutically selected items serve an important role in play therapy. They will allow my students the opportunity to release their emotions in ways that are not allowed in typical settings like the classroom. For example, the Bop Bag is an aggressive release toy that allow students to express their anger and release frustration in a safe environment. The art easel doll furniture will allow students to express their needs symbolically and facilitate the exploration of their feelings and emotions. The set up and furniture of my room is important for students interactions with me because it helps facilitate the communication and expression of the students. Play therapy techniques can help students with academic and social problems, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders. The students can learn to communicate better and develop healthy coping skills.
