The knitting materials will help my students to cross the midline of their right-side creative brain with their left-side logic brain as they learn the skill of knitting. Scholars will be able to knit at home and teach their family members how to knit and be mindful and calm. I will teach scholars how they can take yarn and turn it into a sock, scarf, and other items with just a needle and a hook. Scholars will learn how to be mindful, calm, and breathe as they connect with the knitting materials. They will learn how to commit to a goal, set a SMART Goal plan, and persevere through the challenges, while learning from their mistakes, to see and share with others their final product such as a knitted booty, hat, coaster, etc… They’ll be learning a life-long arts and crafts skill.
