The K'nex maker kits will be used in my Physics classes for more hands-on learning. I have observed that as the pandemic has dragged on, my students have become more disengaged and less motivated. This could be due to more stresses in their lives, disruptions while learning online, and more absences due to quarantine requirements. I have found that they try the hardest when a lesson is hands-on and involves more interactions with their peers. I have several activities that I will use the k'nex maker kits for that will add more hands-on activities to my curriculum. Also, some students have weathered the pandemic better than others and have not experienced as much disruption in their lives. They may get done faster than other students. In order to meet the pacing requirements of all students, I am expanding my options for extension activities. The Snap Circuits have consistently been popular with my students. I have borrowed some from our local STEM center annually. The ones I am ordering are different from the ones I can borrow and will allow students to try more projects over the course of the year. The maker kits will also be incorporated into my extension offerings.
