Developing a love of reading is something that is so close to my heart! So many students think they don't like reading because of the short, uninteresting stories in textbooks. I want my students to realize reading can be so much more than that, it can be an adventure! When we complete a novel study together in class, my students are totally invested in the characters and plot! Many students realize reading a good book can be just as enjoyable as watching a movie. I love to see students getting excited about new things. The novels I've chosen are not books students would normally choose on their own. One novel is written in the form of poetry. Two of the novels are nonfiction. Most students would not choose those genres on their own. I know that if we read them together, students can and will realize what they've been missing.
