Students in first grade have the need to move around the room as they participate in centers. They often have "wiggles" that are necessary to get out, and sitting in a blue, plastic chair at their desk all day is not always comfortable. They also have moments when they finish their work early and have time to pick up a book off the library, and currently have only the carpet to stretch out on. The couch will benefit these students tremendously, as they will have seating options that are away from their desks. Thanks so much for your help in "mixing up" seating options for my students!
