The balance beam, stepping stones, and other items requested will help children with special needs become safer and more aware of their school environment. They will be able to increase strength, balance, coordination, confidence, and safety during activities in their school day. We will be able to work on the skills needed to participate in recess and in play. Play is essential for learning many real-world skills. It will improve their gross motor and coordination skills to participate in more areas in the school setting. With Covid-19 and online learning, many kids didn't have the opportunity to get outside or to play or work on gross motor skills, further impairing those skills. They didn't get to play with peers or participate in group activities, which is very critical to learning and life skills.
