What is more exciting than for a younger student to have a Reading Buddy come into the library and read to them. Our intermediate students come into the library during their recess and read to our Pre-school and primary students during their library times. This Reading Buddy program promotes community spirit among our students, builds reading skills, and gets our younger students excited about reading. Our younger students choose the book they want their Reading Buddy to read to them, and then find a place in the library to sit together and read. It allows our older students to model behavior, care of books, and reading. What a pleasure it is to hear the voices of children reading together, sharing their special page in a book, and the love of reading fostered by this program.
