There are a variety of hands-on experiments that I would love to do with my students using telescopes. These will demonstrate scientific concepts that we are working on and generate excitement for the subjects I teach. We can observe sun spots in Earth Science lessons and look at solar spectra in Chemistry lessons! You may be thinking that the best images can only be seen at night - and you would be right. We are in the planning stages of organizing an overnight camping field trip to one of Utah's many "dark sky" sites. This would be a cross-curricular trip involving Science, Art and English, but it would rely on being able to look at the sky through telescopes. Ideally, this would develop into an annual trip.
