I am new to teaching the third grade as such I did not have a classroom library with third-grade books. I started a meager library in the classroom with a few hundred dollars from the class budget. The students are reading more especially the lower readers. The students would wait until library class which only happens once a week. This was not working as reluctant readers had an excuse not to read. With these new books, my reluctant readers will not have an excuse for not reading. The only way to get better at reading is to READ! The students have shown that they want to read when it is easy to find an interesting book. Having these books will accomplish that in the classroom.
