The use of manipulatives and flexible seating in the classroom is meaningful in a variety of ways; manipulatives allow children to practice their fine and gross motor skills while creatively expressing themselves during instruction and free time. The use of such materials engages the students as they excitedly design, build, and share what they have learned and their creations. Additionally, these creations are not permanent nor limited, but can be added to, revised, and combined with other materials. With additional classroom manipulatives and flexible seating, the students will be able to learn and create in a style unique to their own learning abilities. They aren't confined by a regular classroom chair or a pencil paper, but encouraged to be themselves!
