I am working to create a space that engages students minds no mater where in the class they look. I have chosen out elements to bring in light such as several lamps due to my class not having windows and students being noticeably subdued by the lack of quality light. I have selected decorative elements to make it feel like home to them. Students who feel that they are in a safe comforting place are more likely to engage with the course and with me as their teacher. Imagine if you will, a class where students are eager to go and excited to learn. They will see a tapestry of the galaxy and remember that after lunch we will explore the meaning of the universe together. For school spirit days their teacher has a t-shirt that is as meaningful as it is entertaining. I will be able to quickly get out needed supplies thanks to the label maker. I want my class to be a fun place to learn so I have selected games that will allow for meaningful interaction with those that have finished their work. They will also serve for when students are unable to go outside but need to refresh their minds. This is the last year my students will be in elementary school and I want to prepare them for the rest of their lives, while also helping to make this the best year yet!
