My students love talking about the books we read together in class, but we don't have very many class book sets to choose from; I'm hoping to give them more options that they'll be excited to read and talk about! Reading novels together and discussing what we've read creates an open social environment for students to share their thoughts and feelings, and it fosters critical thinking and reading comprehension skills. Everyone has different perspectives, even if we're all reading the same book, and that's what makes it so valuable. Along with class book sets, we need more books for our classroom library. It is currently a meager collection of less than a dozen (some far below grade level)! I'd like to be able to recommend books that can be checked out right from the classroom.
