The authentic process of making a tortilla is half the fun and a big piece of the cultural learning experiences that my students deserve so that they are even more excited about learning Spanish. Having a tortilla press will give my students the opportunity to have the authentic experience of making homemade tortillas. Having a tortilla warmer will help them be able to wait for a class set of tortillas to be made and be able to still eat them warm and as a class. Having the right flour also helps with any allergies or sensitivities my students have, but also makes it the final touch in having the authentic experience of making homemade tortillas. Simply put, the ability for them to have the tools they need to re-create the authentic experience of making tortillas will make a bigger impact on the students from home than just talking about tortillas with store-bought examples.
