Organization. I am requesting several organizational materials... table, bookshelf, file organizer, paper storage, etc. due to me having to keep everything at my desk and students needing to come up to me every time they might need another copy of an assignment, or paper, or to turn something in. This can help be consistent with material placement in the classroom. My students thrive on hands-on learning, but it is sometimes hard for me to provide that... My science classroom is in a carpeted classroom, this makes it difficult to plan somewhat messy experiments but with a nice vacuum, I won't have to be overly cautious and the students won't miss out on hands-on learning. This is also the reason I am requesting washable table cloths; the mess can be made on the table cloth and I can gather it up without dropping too much on the floor. There are also some science materials such as pipettes, test tubes, reusable gloves, and safety goggles; these will help keep a safe, but fun classroom environment. An upcoming unit I have is on different types of cells and how these work with photosynthesis and cellular respiration. I have found that my students are great with visual learning and the hands-on animal/plant cell models will be great in teaching the students where each different part is located.
