Children need quality physical activity throughout their day to lead healthy lives and to learn. My rural school gym serves as the ideal location to promote and foster physical activities. Our gym floor doesn't just look bad, it's also hazardous for our students and causes students to slip, twist an ankle, or get seriously injured. The most important part about a gym is creating a safe playing environment for students who are using the space. A new mat flooring system will create a safe space for my students, be easier to maintain, and last for many years. These custom-made floor mats will be secured to minimize tripping and can be replaced if needed. The new flooring system will be installed by professionals who understand our needs. When teams are playing basketball and volleyball, students run for a ball and slide into a wall! I am excited to see my students' faces the first time they see and use our new floor.
