Learning is always better when you can immediately see the results. When the learning is also fun and playful, students are willing and excited to build on that learning. Learning to write Python code can be challenging and frustrating. Writing code that gets a robot to roll, turn, and interact with the student adds an element of play and entertainment to the learning. When a student enjoys the learning, the learning is lasting and meaningful. I believe that when the students can see the power of code in a real and practical way, they will see opportunities for hobbies and careers in coding. Specific tasks and movement patterns will be assigned and students will write the code to accomplish the assignments. Students will access the Software Development Kit for the robot and write code in Python that gives the robot specific commands for movement and interaction. They will have immediate feedback by seeing the robot repeat their commands.
