My science classroom is structured to focus on active learning strategies, such as inquiry-based, collaborative and case-based learning. Microscopes in my classroom will play a critical role in opening up scientifically compelling topics to students, as well as giving them valuable skills and hands-on experience. Inquiry-based activities where students are required to use their skills, in this case, microscope use, can be engaging, informative, and encourage a sense of wonder. Investigations of the microscopic environment can open up new and previously unimagined aspects of the natural world for student examination.
