The focus of the materials I'm requesting is to promote student reading and then writing about what they have read. I've included writing journals, plus fun writing utensils to make writing more engaging for them along with rewards to encourage them to write more. Reading and then writing about it is essential to helpings students grow and learn to think and process information on their own terms. Writing journals also help students process there emotions about what they've read and about the world around them. By giving my students their own journal, I'm giving them a safe place where they can learn and grow, not just in academic abilities, but as a person. With the given state of the world and all the problems and interruptions these students have faced due to COVID-19 these students need a place where they can think through and process everything that is happening.
