I want to encourage literacy of all subjects through history. History is full of stories of people and events and books are a wonderful way to get there. Either through historical fiction or non-fiction books it is important to get these stories out there. I'm hoping to expand my classroom library and create a comfortable space for students and to gather around and enjoy the stories of history. I got into history and social studies through historical fiction, and we forget about the subject because it is boring or lame, but I want to change that.
