This books does a fantastic job of illustrating nearly all of the concepts in the second semester curriculum. It talks about single celled organisms, genetically modified organisms, shows what exponential growth looks like, tells the story of an epidemic of a new, unknown organism (like kids are experiencing now with Covid) and shows how scientists and government work together to understand and tackle these kinds of problems. All of this is wrapped up in a storyline that is very understandable, interesting and engaging to 7th graders, so I really want all of my students to be able to read the story at their own pace at home, especially when so many kids are learning from home.
