After a hard two years of dealing with COVID-19, students have come back to the classroom unsure of their abilities to speak in front of a classroom of peers to present projects, are very dependent on computer videos for viewing experiments instead of doing them first-hand, are shy of trying to compete in one-on-one knowledge competitions, they are unsure of their abilities to read and take "the right" notes from informational material to later question, report, and gain knowledge from, have lost the creative drive that asks "why," and students have trouble socializing while working in groups and responding appropriately in a classroom or with individual students/classmates. The items I asked for will give students hands-on activities, allow a fun way to do some knowledge competition-review [which is more fun and gives a reason to learn material], will provide current events, and will enhance our classroom through some socialization in a positive, less threatening way.
