These books will help my students develop empathy for others, and make connections to their own lives. These books confront timeless issues such as justice and problem-solving in difficult situations. Books transport students from a focus on their own troubles and build perspective and character through the power of literature and the joy of reading. Books also deepen their awareness of other cultures and the struggles that humans have faced throughout time. This awareness will strengthen their ability to cope with our current pandemic.
