These materials provide math and phonemic awareness activities and manipulatives. Phonemic awareness is the basic skill that is needed for skilled readers. These materials will allow my students to receive hands-on learning activities in phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness interventions are more effective if they have the students manipulate letters. Without letters (d= 0.38, 0.34, 0.18 and with letters d = 0.67, 0.61 [Bus & IJzendoorn, 1999, NRP, 2000]). PA instruction is more effective if the students manipulate letters during it. Early intervention in phonemic awareness is vital in students being successful in reading.
