First grade is such an important foundational grade for literacy that I want to make sure I have resources that are effective and engaging. Working headphones are a must when it comes to our students using online programs for phonemic awareness and phonics instruction to keep distractions low and engagement high. I love that the resources from Lakeshore Learning can be used in whole class lessons, small group instruction, or independently. These resources will go a long way to creating engaging ways to add to our class's literacy instruction and practice. The twist and turn word builders, phonics and word family flip books, and word family practice cards will all help us work on decodable words which our school is trying to emphasize this year. Some of the materials geared toward writing like handwriting paper and notebooks will help students with handwriting as well as learning to be creative writers. . And more informational books to add to our classroom library will garner more interest in learning and exploring new topics.
