My students have some significant gaps in their learning due to the global pandemic of COIVD-19. They are struggling academically because they have been distance learning for some of their education and were totally dependent on parents/caregivers who were also trying to acclimate to becoming teachers at home after working all day. My students are struggling with learning gaps in math, science, reading, writing, and history. They are capable of great progress, but they need help with being able to use technology effectively to manage their assignments and learning. Having access to headphones would help a lot for making sure they are able to use technology effectively at school to help bridge their learning gaps. They are creative writers that love to create solutions to complex problems when they write creative fiction. They also want to be prepared to become adults that manage themselves, make good choices and become successful, creative entrepreneurs and join the work force. Most of my students care deeply about their own learning and growth. They celebrate their successes with each other and care about those around them.
