My students need to be recognized for positive behaviors more than most kids. We are unique in the 6th grade because we meet monthly to tell the students and their peers awesome things they do to be responsible, show ownership, demonstrate active learning, and be reliable in school and out of school. The speaker system will allow teachers to communicate positive traits to students thus increasing other students to emulate the desired traits. My students may struggle with emotional, physical, and mental health issues and will need support that yoga calm teaches: Stillness, listening, grounding, strength and community. They need to understand the underlying causes of conflict and disease, they need to make better choices, and they need to learn to navigate through life with greater compassion and skill. It is my goal to change the way my students see and experience learning as well as the world.
