Headphones are essential in our classroom in order to complete daily activities. We use the i-ready reading and math intervention program at our site. During intervention time, a group of students will be working with me in the back while the rest of my students are completing their i-ready reading and math lessons in their tablets. These lessons are designed specifically for each students based on their academic levels and their needs. They need their headphones in order to complete their lessons, because without them they're unable to concentrate and are easily distracted when others talk, or when I'm giving instruction to my small group. It also allows my small groups to focus a lot more since they will not hear when their classmates are completing their i-ready assignments. Also, due to Covid many of my students have had to quarantine and they have no other option but to join my classroom virtually. At home they are with parents and siblings who also have to complete their daily tasks, and it's harder for them to focus without a pair of headphones they can use that will minimize background noise. Many of the headphones we currently use are broken due to the many years of use, this project will allow me to replace the ones that are broken and give a set to those that do not have any.
