Before COVID-19, I took my students on science field trips regularly. We've traveled to local museums, art venues, parks, zoos, planetarium, and even nearby foothills. Because we are located downtown, we have access to many fabulous resources, most at little or no cost to schools. As a public charter school, a part of our mission is to help students feel comfortable enjoying the educational opportunities of our city. During this time of limited travel opportunities, VR technology can take my students to places our public transit cannot take them: the Moon, Mars, and much more! Engaging, memorable field trips can be had without leaving the classroom. This will be a nice addition for years to come, even when we are back to enjoying the city's amazing amenities.
