Lighting is a crucial aspect of cinematography. These are high powered LED lights that will allow these students to use industry standard equipment as they film the capstone projects. Most of the lights that we currently use are tungsten, light bulb based, and unfortunately, create somewhat of a safety concern. They get really hot and can potentially burn students. These LED lights are always cool to the touch, despite their high output. So they are a much safer approach than we currently use. These lights would also be more easily sent home for students to use for filming off campus.
