The VR headset is connected to a platform with numerous apps that take the students into the various animal habitats. I have found many apps that allow my students to immerse themselves in habitats and structures that they are incapable of reaching with traditional classroom settings. One app allows them to dig into the human anatomy. They can see how the body works with lifelike simulations. This would help them to see the concepts in 3D to dig deeper. When I was a kid, I loved watching the show, The Magic School Bus. The teacher took the students on field trips to see the concepts they were learning about. Using the Oculus VR headsets, I will be able to do the same thing. Through the headset and the education apps, I will be able help show the students how animals interact with their environment that previously could only be achieved through visiting the actual habitat. The interactive apps give them firsthand experience and bring the concepts to life. It is about as close as we can get as teachers to taking these students into the concepts we are learning about.
