My job as a reading specialist is to help students behind in reading develop their reading skills. Because of COVID-19, my students in grades K-3 are behind in reading. The pandemic prevented my students from building a solid foundation in phonics and are now striving to catch up. The leveled library will help build an interest in reading and provide a greater opportunity to implement the phonological skills they learn. My students are ready for a greater variety of books. These leveled readers will help me plan specific small-group interventions focused on developing fluency and comprehension. The phonics materials will help my students learn these foundational reading skills they missed. They will also provide additional interest in learning phonics. Without games and ways to make phonics fun, students can quickly become bored. These phonics games and materials provide engaging ways to practice important phonological skills.
