During this pandemic, students have been more stressed-out than ever. Going online and then going back to in-person, then continuing to flip back and forth and back has been extremely stressful for these students and teachers. Students have talked to me about their issues with doing a lot of their learning online and not having as many opportunities as they did when they were in in-person school. They have expressed that if they did have an online day or week they could have a different type of outlet to express their work rather than just online. I have taken their wants into consideration and have changed a lot of my curriculum to meet the needs of these students and to make their learning more creative and hands-on. Many of the items I chose for this grant has to deal with these students being able to be more creative since a lot of that has been taken away and replaced with online school and chrome books. I have decided to purchase many arts, crafts, and organizational items for my students. As previously stated, I have changed my curriculum for my students so that my students can work on more projects that relate to what we do. For example, I teach ELA, and I want my students to be more immersed in the books we read. One of the changes I have made in my curriculum is to have students create a book project by recreating a book they have read or a book we read in class. This project will have students create their own book cover which would include, pictures, drawings, magazine cut, glues, etc. I am thankful for this grant and hope to attain the needs that my students have.
