As a special education teacher I get students at various levels of ability, but the one thing that helps all students is the ability to use multiple intelligences to help make sense of their world. Many of my students need concrete manipulatives to grasp concepts of addition, subtraction, money etc. These manipulatives and resources will help my students connect the concepts from the text into real life understanding. Repetition is the key to learning, but some kids get bored quickly so having a large variety of resources available to them will benefit all in the class. My students will be able to have several different ways to see the concepts being taught. Physically touching a coin and seeing one on paper are such different things, and being able to have these manipulatives in my classroom will help to encourage the students in their learning journey.
