My students already deal with so many challenges in their lives that having a happy, safe and organized environment at school helps them to stay engaged and want to learn. In my classroom I spend a lot of time teaching executive functioning skills including organization, planning and other daily functioning skills. We assign jobs and have rewards systems in place. For example; a student may be in charge of passing out books, passing out papers or printing pictures for an activity that day. Rewards may include; earning a chance to get the teachers chair for the day (a student favorite) I try to encourage daily independent coping skills and emotional regulation so my students can learn how to cope with situations or environments that may not be comfortable. These products will provide fun learning experiences and allow me to provide the best learning environment that I can for them. I am always looking for ways to improve the classroom environment and help my students to learn and have fun at the same time. An organized environment helps my students be able to focus and function better in the classroom. The students have access to all the books available in my room and having those books organized neatly on a shelf will make it much easier for the students to find what they are looking for. In my classroom we cover all subjects and therefore we use and need all different resources and supplies. We handle projects that require color printouts and multiple colors of paper. To have a cart to organize all that paper and a printer to print things out conveniently in my room would again make it so much easier for my students to find and use the resources available to them. Thank you for this opportunity.
