These books will continue to keep the students engaged while encouraging their reading development. Students will have a greater variety of books to choose from in our class library during independent free-read times, allowing them to choose what interests them. The white boards are used daily to show examples of student understanding of topics. Classroom organization and simple decor help to make a positive learning environment. Two new classroom sets of novels will help open up the students to reading things they've never been exposed to before, to help them venture into new territory and hopefully foster a life-long love of reading! Giving them options of books that have others that look like them, have similar backgrounds, or similar interests will help students feel more connected as they read. If they love what they're reading, they'll keep reading! As reading improves, so do other areas of learning. If the classroom is organized and simple, it helps keep the students focused and allow for greater impact when learning.
