Student interaction is something students have greatly missed out on over the last few years with learning how to teach during a pandemic and is a huge skill needed in any future career endeavor, especially engineering. Interaction and collaboration go hand in hand. Having opportunities to interact in a flexible and autonomous way within my classroom will be a huge benefit and these seats will allow this to more easily happen. This provides a more authentic opportunity for them to learn an absolutely essential skill in a way that students feel safe.
