My students do not have access to a German textbook or German reading materials. These books are beginner books and grade level books so that they have something of interest for them to practice the German that they are learning in class. They will have access to read them in class or check them out to take home to read. I selected German fairy tales and leveled readers in order to capture the interests of my students rather than a textbook because students have a tendency to tune out the text in a traditional textbook.
