As an online school teacher, I'm on my computer constantly. I'm currently using a tiny laptop screen. A computer monitor will allow me to better work with and teach students in my online classroom as I share my screen with them. We also progress monitor and work with students in reading groups, and having a larger monitor will greatly help me in my online teaching. Social emotional learning is a crucial part of education - especially for students like mine who are participating in virtual learning. I have selected some great books and teacher guides with lesson plans to reinforce these crucial skills to my students. I am going to do an online lesson each week focusing on one of these skills. This is especially important for students who are doing online learning and aren't face to face with their peers. This virtual setting will enforce social skills and provide a "social setting" for these kids. Many of these kids don't see their peers due to the COVID-19 pandemic so this is crucial socialization for them. Additionally, the large monitor will help assist me, as the teacher, in facilitating these lessons (in addition to the online teaching I'm already doing). We love to reward students who work hard all year long and finish their courses on time! I have also selected some fun and educational gifts I can mail my students who have finished their courses with 100% by the end of the year. This fun incentive is very motivating for my students and something they look forward to year after year.
