These whiteboards and buzzer set would help to make learning a more dynamic and interactive process in my classroom. While I strive to make my classroom interactive, that makes it rely upon student participation. Certain students are happy to participate while others don't. This issue is amplified when students don't want to participate for fear of being wrong. These materials would allow all students regardless of their academic levels to participate on the same playing field. Being able to provide each student with a whiteboard would allow all students to participate quickly without feeling singled out. That way they can show learning reflection without the fear of embarrassment. The buzzers would be used for group study sessions/memory checks in which students can work together and compete. If all students want to win, they work together and break barriers that they had previously built up. Once students get comfortable with these processes they begin to get more comfortable with participating regardless of the format. Beyond that, providing students with different learning materials is something that peaks interest in the student. Even if the same activity could be done on pen and paper the fact that it isn't draws students in. This increased participation creates thoughtful reflections, thus increasing a students connection to history and the world around them. Having these materials would make an important difference in my classroom.
