I am requesting reading materials for my students to use in a small group classroom setting. These reading materials will be used during our literature circles; as well as when parents come to volunteer during our reading power hour. GOAL My hope is reading fluency and comprehension will improve as students come to love and enjoy reading material from popular authors and many treasured reading series, too. Student engagement improves when students are able to relate to the setting, the characters and the plot development found within books they enjoy. I have also found the students in my second grade classroom are able to make many valued connections as we discuss core curriculum elements found within each story.
