iPads in the classroom are a fun, engaging tool that can help our students enhance their literacy in their target language. iPads can quickly and effectively fill in the gaps in what students were unable to learn due to the COVID pandemic. My students would use iPads in small groups in the classroom to make audio and video recordings. All students would be able to show off their projects by making video recordings of themselves. The goal of learning the target language with the iPad is for the students to master the language rapidly. When working with the iPad independently they will use the oral recording and written messaging tools to build confidence and fluency in the language. The group activity with iPads will allow them to practice speaking, listening, and writing in the target language, as well as improve their pronunciation. Students could exchange feedback with their classmates, promoting learning sociability. We will be able to work on both Spanish and Science using the iPads. In science, iPads would be very beneficial in student workgroups. They can conduct research and debate scientific issues that have been discussed in class. Students will also be able to learn how to use the online platforms, apps, and programs that they will use at home on distance learning days due to COVID-19. To achieve long-term academic success, my students would greatly benefit from the use of new technologies such as iPads.
