Our district installed a learning management system (LMS) when the pandemic hit. I was fortunate enough to have already been using Google Classroom, as I have older kids who need to be comfortable with such systems. This wasn't a hard jump for my kids, but it was hard on our hardware. My in-class Chromebook set was being checked out so students could complete their work. The wear-and-tear on the Chromebooks was obvious. By adding two Chromebooks for check-out purposes, I can allow students to take technology home for overnight work, and I can keep my classroom set intact. I strive to provide a current educational curriculum, and that means I use my LMS daily. My students will use one as they head to college, and I feel they will be ready because they are comfortable with the technology. Providing Chromebooks that can be checked out and returned for homework purposes will allow the opportunity for all students, those with devices at home and those without.
