Scholars will learn to love to read by understanding complex text. We will read, act out through Readers Theatre as well as complete projects while reading these texts. Our scholars will learn about the UDHR while reading Esperanza Rising and how it is still apropos today. Scholars will make connections from the book Esperanza Rising to what is going on today. Scholars will become lovers of reading and understanding complex text. This will be the catalyst of their love for reading. When they enter middle school next schools year, they will already have a love for reading for learning and for recreation. This is something that will carry scholars through life.
